Before the session

When the client arrives, I ask if they need water, temperature adjustments, we discuss their goals for the session, and/or if there are any injuries/issues I should know before our reiki session starts. I want clients to feel comfortable and safe as this allows for more complete release and healing.

During the session

When I give reiki I do a gentle laying on of hands and a brushing motion down the legs and arms. Touch is not necessary but it was the way I was trained and I find it assists in the release and therapeutic benefits of a session. When receiving reiki, you might feel a deep relaxation, almost as if you are going to drift off to sleep. This deep relaxation is the alpha state of brain activity. It is a recharging and relaxing state that has many positive, healing benefits. The first time I had reiki I felt as if a static radio was turned off that I didn’t realize was even on. There was a peaceful consciousness that I could not ever remember experiencing.

After the session

After reiki there is time to connect and communicate about the session. I love the wisdom that can come forward with oracle and tarot cards so will have cards set before the client arrives and then do a reading after the session. Or if preferred, the client and I can just have a conversation to help them process their reiki experience and ground themselves.
